I am so proud to be writing this post tonight. When I joined the group in 2008, shortly after moving to New Jersey, we had a perfectly functional meetup site for a casual group of about 20 or 25 writers who met at the Barnes and Noble.

Then the group started growing.

And growing.

And now, we sit at over 100 local writers. I have watched friends come in timid to their first meeting and then publish their first short story or article or poem. They get an agent. They self-publish. They launch their own business. I’ve seen many members blossom from budding writers to spread their branches in publishing, in social media, in editing.

And with all that change comes something new for the group. A website where we can truly showcase the group, its members, and all the wonderful things coming out of South Jersey. We will be featuring members, spotlighting events, and truly integrating ourselves with our other social media. Shortly, we will be adding enhancements like Buddy Press so members can connect online more easily and adding tools and resources to help aspiring writers!

I would like to thank Mark Doenges, our membership director, for spearheading this effort. Every Board member is a volunteer, with many other responsibilities, so putting together a website has been a challenge and I truly appreciate his efforts.

With that, I will close our first blog post on our new website. Check back often since we will be adding new features and keeping this site fresh with updates and news.
