From The South Jersey Writers’ Group
So you have a great idea for a story. Maybe you do research. Create an outline. Develop characters. Write some scenes, or maybe a whole novel. YOU ROCK!
Now, how do you get all the pieces in one place so it’s easy to revise, organize and format? Answer: Scrivener.
Scrivener TM is a word processor, ring binder and scrapbook all in one convenient software platform. Whether you’re writing a novel, screenplay or other long-form prose, it provides writers with a way to manage the divergent pieces of their manuscript and prepare it for submission/publication.
Sharyn, the workshop leader, has written over 200,000 words and counting in Scrivener, crafting two novels through numerous revisions, and she’s still discovering cool new things about the program.
The workshop will provide a basic introduction to the program, show you some tricks and have you crafting your first project in no time.
This workshop is open to all SJWG Meetup members, even writers who are brand new to the group! You do need to RSVP on the Meetup Event page, found here.
Not yet a SJWG member? Join us through Meetup and you’ll be able to start registering for most of our many events right away. Click here to find SJWG on Meetup. After sign-up, you’ll see the Monthly Meeting listed on the main page under Upcoming Events (until the event starts on Thursday). Please RSVP for the event so we know how many people to expect.
THIS IS A HANDS-ON WORKSHOP AND REQUIRES A LAPTOP AND THE
PRE-LOADED AND ACTIVATED SCRIVENER PROGRAM.
Details on how to set up for the Workshop,
including how to get a free 30-day trial of Scrivener,
are provided on the Meetup announcement page.
You will also need a working-copy of some content you’d like to put into Scrivener. SJWG assumes no responsibility for lose of content. Backups are important.
Big projects with complex interconnections of ideas and narratives, characters, locations, and timelines can be too much to manage. Sharyn’s tour of this great writing tool will show you how make the process of writing just a little less painful. 😉
